Deep South Expedition – Malé to Fuvahmulah & Huvadhoo
This is AMBA’s major expedition and is intended for experienced divers. Leaving Malé, the boat travels south through Vaavu and Meemu, then into Thaa and Laamu, where channels and reefs see fewer visitors.
The highlight is Fuvahmulah, a solitary island in open ocean and a renowned place to dive with tiger sharks. Thresher sharks, great hammerheads, silvertips and oceanic mantas may also be encountered. The trip ends in Huvadhoo, known for huge channels and big-animal diving.
Expect strong currents, negative entries and blue-water dives. The trip is one-way: guests fly home from Kooddoo Airport via Malé. Domestic flights are not included, but Atolliva can help arrange them. A black wetsuit is required for Fuvahmulah tiger-shark dives; additional site and environmental fees may apply.
