About
Vilamendhoo is a large island resort in South Ari Atoll, a 25-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport. It reopens in November 2026 with new villa names, taking bookings for stays from 15 November 2026. The 184 villas are split between the family side and an adults-only side: Tropical, Adjacent Beachfront and Beachfront Villas for everyone, and 60 Romantic Beachfront and Romantic Ocean Villas for guests aged 18 and over, each with its own buffet restaurant. Divers have Euro Divers on the island, and the Manta Trust runs a marine biology centre here. Duniye Spa, a kids club, a fitness centre and plenty of sports keep days full. It suits families who want space and activities, and couples who would rather stay in the adults-only villas.

Dining & facilities
There are two buffet restaurants: Funama for guests in Tropical, Adjacent Beachfront and Beachfront Villas, and the adults-only Ahima for guests in the Romantic villas. For à la carte, Asian Wok sits over the water and Hot Rock is beside the beach, and there are four bars, including Bonthi Bar and the adults-only Sunset Bar. Room service and private beach dinners are available. The All Inclusive Dine Around adds snacks, unlimited drinks including draught beer, house wine and house spirits, a stocked minibar, and set-menu meals at the à la carte restaurants. Facilities include Duniye Spa, a fitness centre, a kids club, and courts for tennis, padel, volleyball and badminton.
Things to do
Euro Divers runs the dive centre, and the Manta Trust Marine Biology Centre is based on the island. The water sports centre offers windsurfing, kayaks and snorkelling. All Inclusive Dine Around guests also get a sunset cruise, a group snorkelling lesson, a group windsurf lesson, an excursion to the local island of Dhangethi and group yoga at Duniye Spa.
Getting There
Seaplane with Trans Maldivian Airways from Velana International Airport takes 25 minutes. Seaplanes fly in daylight only; the last flight to the island usually leaves around 16:00, so late arrivals stay a night in Malé first.
Good to know
Romantic Beachfront and Romantic Ocean Villas are for adults aged 18 and over. The seaplane luggage allowance is 20 kg checked plus 5 kg carry-on, and return flights connect only with international departures after 09:00.
