About
Bandos has welcomed guests since December 1972. It sits on an 18-hectare coral island in North Malé Atoll, just 7 km from Velana International Airport. Its 220 rooms and villas range from simple Standard Beachfront Rooms to two-storey Premium Beach Villas and Sunset Water Villas with their own pools. The island is big enough for plenty to do: seven restaurants and bars, a freshwater pool, a full clubhouse with tennis and squash, a kids club with a nursery, and Dive Bandos, which reaches around 40 dive sites. A doctor and a decompression chamber are on the island around the clock. It suits families, divers, groups and first-time visitors, and it works well for a short stay or the end of a trip, as the airport is so close.

Dining & facilities
Gallery serves international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sea Breeze offers snacks and continental and Asian dishes from early morning until midnight. Huvan has an overwater deck, the Grill serves grilled meat, fish and seafood (Saturday to Thursday), and Umi Yaki cooks Japanese teppanyaki (Monday to Saturday, booking required). Sand Bar has nightly entertainment and a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and the Pool Bar has a swim-up bar. In-villa dining runs 24 hours. Facilities include Orchid Spa (massage, salon, beauty treatments, steam and sauna), an outdoor freshwater pool, a clubhouse with gym, flood-lit tennis court, squash, badminton and billiards, Kokko Club for children with a nursery, playground and babysitting, a 24-hour medical centre, shops, a convention centre and free Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas.
Things to do
Dive Bandos runs PADI courses, house reef, boat and night dives and snorkelling, with around 40 dive sites in reach. The house reef lies 40–60 metres from the beach with four entry points, and the lagoon is 0.5–2 metres deep. The watersports centre offers windsurfing, catamaran sailing, waterskiing, jet skis, parasailing, banana boat, wakeboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, flyboarding and kayaks. Boat trips include sunset dolphin cruises, glass-bottom boat rides, snorkelling trips, whale shark excursions, private sandbank picnics, sunrise, sunset and night fishing with a barbecue, a Malé city tour and island hopping. Evenings bring live bands, DJs, karaoke, movie nights and traditional Boduberu drumming and dance.
Getting There
Bandos is 7 km from Velana International Airport, a 10–15 minute speedboat ride, and 8 km from Malé.
Good to know
Check-in 14:00, check-out 12:00. Rooms are cleaned twice a day. A general practitioner and a dive medicine doctor are on call at the 24-hour medical centre.
