Scubaspa Maldives: Liveaboard Luxury with Atolliva featured image

A floating resort, not just a dive boat

Most visitors to the Maldives pick one island and stay put. Scubaspa does it differently. It's a luxury liveaboard that moves through the atolls for a week, bringing the reefs, sandbanks and spa to you.

What makes it unusual is the balance. Scubaspa was built for divers and the people who travel with them. One partner can do three dives a day while the other has a massage, practises yoga on deck or snorkels from a sandbank. Everyone meets again for dinner.

Atolliva Maldives is now an official Scubaspa partner. That means we can check live cabin availability, book directly, and arrange your stay in Malé before or after the cruise.

Meet the twins: Scubaspa Yin and Scubaspa Yang

The fleet is two matching 50-metre yachts. Scubaspa Yin launched in 2013 and Scubaspa Yang in 2014. Each one has 17 suites for up to 34 guests, plus a spa, a dive centre and a jacuzzi on deck.

With a maximum of 34 guests, it never feels crowded. It's closer to a small boutique hotel than a cruise ship.

There are four suite types: Manta Suite, Dolphin Suite, Cowrie Suite and Sea Star Suite

Manta Suites are the largest, and they book out first on festive departures.

Choose your week: Scuba, Spa, or Scuba + Spa

Every guest picks one of three packages. They all cost the same:

  • Scuba: up to 17 guided dives across the week.
  • Spa: 8 spa treatments.
  • Scuba + Spa: 6 dives and 4 treatments.

Cruises run 7 nights, Saturday to Saturday. Boarding is at 1:00 pm, and you're back on land at 8:45 am the following Saturday.

A typical day starts with yoga on deck. Divers head out for morning channel or reef dives, while others snorkel, paddle or book a treatment. In the afternoon you might stop at a sandbank or visit a local island. Most weeks also include a barbecue on a deserted island.

The price includes:

  • Full-board meals and drinking water
  • Return airport transfers
  • Daily yoga
  • Snorkelling equipment and non-motorised watersports
  • A local island visit and an island barbecue
  • 5 GB of Wi-Fi per cabin

Where you'll sail, and when

https://atollivamaldives.com/liveaboards/scubaspa-maldives#departures

The Central Atolls route is the safe bet for most travellers. There's no minimum number of logged dives, and the mix of marine life is excellent.

The Deep South is for experienced divers only. Deep South departures carry a 10% supplement.

For most of the year, sea conditions are calmest between December and April.

Who Scubaspa is perfect for

  • Couples where only one person dives. This is the classic Scubaspa trip: one of you dives, the other takes the spa package, and you spend the evenings together.
  • Divers who want comfort. You get proper suites, good food and a spa, without giving up three dives a day.
  • Wellness travellers. Eight treatments, daily yoga and calm anchorages make it a restorative week at sea.
  • Small groups of friends. With only 17 suites, a group can take over a good share of the yacht.

Good to know: children under 10 can't sail. Guests aged 10 to 11 on a scuba package need a private guide, which costs extra.
