Best Time to Visit the Maldives: Month-by-Month Travel Guide

January – March: Sunny & Beautiful

These are some of the driest and sunniest months in the Maldives. Expect calm seas, clear skies and excellent conditions for swimming, snorkeling and diving. This is also peak season, so resorts can be more expensive.

April: Warm & Tropical

April remains a great month to visit, with plenty of sunshine and very warm temperatures. Occasional rain may begin towards the end of the month.

May – September: Great Value

The wetter season usually begins around May. You may experience tropical showers, stronger winds and cloudy periods, but there are still plenty of sunny days. Hotel and resort rates are often more attractive during these months, making it a good time for travellers looking for better value.

October – November: Changing Seasons

October can still bring rain, while November generally marks the transition towards drier weather. These months can be a good balance between favourable prices and improving weather.

December: Holiday Paradise

December brings increasingly sunny weather and is one of the most popular times to visit. Christmas and New Year are especially busy, so booking early is recommended.

So, When Should You Visit?

For the best weather, consider travelling between January and April.

For better prices and fewer crowds, consider May to November.

Whichever month you choose, the Maldives has something special to offer.
